Thriving Oceans was originally established as the ocean visage of a nonprofit conservation organization I founded in 2003. Over the years it has evolved from an action-based NGO program to a standalone website designed to bring ocean news, opinions, facts, conservation efforts (including my own activities) and research in blog format to the world.
Marine debris, pollution, bycatch and overfishing are affecting the sustainability of our fisheries, harming wildlife, and reducing the overall quality of ocean habitats. Preserving the health of our oceans requires active community involvement, whether spreading the word about ocean conservation, making the right “meal” decisions, combing a beach for trash or making responsible decisions at home. It is up to individuals to inform our families, representatives, cities, and countries about the plight of our seas, and preserve our marine ecosystems to ensure Thriving Oceans for the future.
